A high propensity for excessive daytime sleepiness independent of lifestyle is associated with cognitive performance in community-dwelling older adults

Objective The relationship between excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and cognitive performance of older adults remains unclear, especially when a healthy lifestyle is considered. study aimed to explore the association EDS in passive active situations general function among community-dwelling adults. Methods Two hundred seventy-one aged 60 above were recruited from community cohort Shangrao. All participants free depression dementia. Chinese version Epworth Sleepiness Scale (CESS) was used evaluate EDS. Using item scores CESS, presence all grouped as non-EDS, situation-related (PSR-EDS), (ASR-EDS), high sleep propensity (HSP).
